This program is amazing for machine language users who are machine language expert for C64. I am wondering, would you be releasing an amazing development tool for C64 that mimic Game Maker Studio Drag and Drop system?
Its already a partly Drag and Drop system, ang via the Macros you get similar features. In my mind I already have that in place. Fun fact, C64 Dev machine is created using Gamemaker studio, and my roots are in Game maker Drag and Drop waaay back in 2004!
Understood, but yours is assembly language. Meaning you need to be an assembly language expert. What we want..all the functions to make a game without coding in assembly language. Like 100% gamemaker studio. if anything, using game maker studio scripting instead....those prebuild preserved words in game maker studio but for c64. Not everyone is an assembly fanatic.
But if the answer is NO...then all I have to say is your project is amazing, I am sure there will be hundreds who will enjoy to use it. But ME personally and millions like me, will have to say, "I am out." :D Only because we are NOT assembly savey...I run away from assembly like a frightened rabbit.
You tried it at all yet? I still think you dont need to know assembly to use C64 Dev Machine, just have a programming logical mindset. Needxa bitmap, drop a bitmap macro, need to move a sprite, drop a move macro, Need a sound effect, drop a siund effect macro, none of tgose require you to know assembly, but all options are there.
Give Lite a try, it might be all you need if you are avoiding code.
Cheers!
Are all these macros prebuilt already? What about if logic declares variables; are all these built into the macro? Another question: if a person wants to add a custom macro but has zero knowledge of assembly...is there a source for someone to build the macro for that person, or download new macros and import it to their project?
You are getting me excited now. If I don't need to do a single assembly code whatsoever and I can download new macros and can build a full-fledged JRPG game with the prebuilt macro I have...including a custom dialog box, blah blah...you SOLD me, and I will buy it immediately.
I suppose, worst-case scenario, I will use Claude AI to do custom macros for me in assembly, yeah??
Imagine a custom macro as a code block with the vars at the top, tapping into HW registers etc. I already have the export button, what I have yet to introduce is the import button... so yeah...
everything is just self contained there. That should be a good middle ground without me going crazy with more scope creep.
I'm on it.
New video to help promote the no-code side of it. Still needs some learning like any other tool out there:
